Hearing Life e-News: Message from the Executive Director

Welcome to Hearing Life e-News, the new name of our popular online newsletter, which complements our newly-renamed printed member magazine, Hearing Life.

Both Hearing Life e-News and Hearing Life are about you – the person at the center of your own care. They are about learning all you can about hearing loss and getting better access to communication and then making your own choices about what works for you.

Read more about the reason behind the name change in the articles by Barbara Kelley and Dave Hutcheson in the Jan/Feb 2018 issue of Hearing Life.

New Logos!

HLAA logo         Walk4Hearing logo

For those of you familiar with HLAA, we have made some exciting changes to the HLAA brand, including new logos for the corporate HLAA organization and its premier program, Walk4Hearing.

The new HLAA logo is interesting because it is a very modern ‘go-back- to-the beginning’ imagery. In 1979, the focus of SHHH – Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, our name then -- was on the silent ‘P’...people. Now the logo is people. Almost 40 years later and the organization is still true to its roots. Bravo!

– Patricia Clickener, member for 37 years and former HLAA Board of Trustees chair.

All these changes are not without purpose; they are part of a well-thought-out strategy to strengthen and build the HLAA brand. I am so pleased about the reaction from you – our members, supporters, sponsors and friends – about the changes here at HLAA. The look might be different, but the mission is the same:

HLAA opens the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.

Join HLAA today and receive Hearing Life. Find an HLAA Chapter near you. Register for HLAA2018 Convention in Minneapolis (June 21-24). Join a Walk4Hearing. But whatever you do, just get involved and find the support you need for your hearing journey through HLAA!
